Activities

Evening social Events

These take place about once a month at various locations, mainly in Nottingham city centre. We often meet up at a pub or restaurant,  but we do other things as well, like snooker and ten pin bowling. A member of staff from Open Door will always be in attendance at these events, but participants will need to make their own way to the venue, or a pre-arranged meeting point.

Nottingham Playhouse

The Nottingham Playhouse offers a special block booking scheme to certain groups, including Open Door, that meet its qualifying criteria. For selected performances during the year we can obtain a limited number of tickets at a greatly reduced price (currently £7). These tickets are usually snapped up quickly by Open Door members, but occasionally there are spare tickets, which are then offered to friends and family of Open Door members.

Coach Trips

We occasionally organise coach trips to various locations around the country. Previous destinations have included Skegness, Cambridge, Oxford and Liverpool.

Boat Trip

The Nottingham Princess river cruise is a relaxing 3 hour round trip along the river Trent. A substantial meal is served on-board and there is a licensed bar.

Aromatherapy / Massage

A qualified Aromatherapist visits Open Door once a week. She provides various aromatherapy and massage treatments. As she is self employed, she sets her own prices for any treatment provided. But her changes are very reasonable compared to the normal market rates.

Centre Meetings

These monthly meetings are an opportunity for staff and members to get together and openly discuss the way Open Door is run. It is a chance for members to make suggestions, give feedback, opinions and raise issues that they are unhappy about.
